About the Presenters:

John “Jack” H. Coward
Jack Coward has been a licensed attorney with his law office in Silicon Valley for more than forty (40) years. He graduated magna cum laude from College of the Pacific, University of the Pacific in 1972. Mr. Coward graduated from McGeorge School of Law in 1976. He taught law for more than twenty four (24) years in San Jose State University’s College of Business. His teaching included courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has been recognized as a Super Lawyer and AV rated attorney by Martindale Hubbel for more than twelve(12) straight years.

James S. Farrar
Mr. Farrar was an Assistant District Attorney in Santa Cruz County, where he first honed his trial skills. In 1975, he joined one of the oldest and most respected litigation law firms on the Central Coast, the Grunsky Law Firm, became a shareholder in 1979 and was the managing shareholder from 1990 through 1999. For over 35 years Mr. Farrar has specialized in handling hundreds of trust, probate, elder abuse, fiduciary and conservatorship litigation matters and has vast experience in the courts of the Central Coast (Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito Counties) and Santa Clara County, California. He has a reputation as a tough, but fair, negotiator and trial lawyer, and the “go to” lawyer for trust and probate litigation on the Central Coast. 

Steven L. Yarbrough
Steven is a California Super Lawyer, obtained his bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia. After more than 20 years as a practicing newspaperman, he graduated from law school at the University of California’s Hastings College of Law in San Francisco in 1995. Steve spent five years of intensive trial practice as a court-appointed defense attorney in Del Norte County, California. He handled approximately 300 adult and juvenile felony and misdemeanor cases per year, including major felony jury trials, three-strikes cases, and homicides to verdict with several re-trials to verdict. In addition, he was responsible for preliminary hearings, pre-trial evidentiary motions and related hearings.

The SVBA Luncheon Seminars are generally held the first Thursday of each month.
