Please join the Silicon Valley Bar Association for our annual holiday event. We are pleased to have Robert E. Temmerman, Jr., and John Prokey to present this annual update. Join your friends and colleagues as our trio of well-respected experts in Trust and Estate law discuss the upcoming changes to the probate code, appellate decisions in the trust and estate area over the past year, and Federal tax law changes and cases.

About our Presenters:

  • Michael G. Desmarais is an attorney at law and a California Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California certified specialist in Probate, Estate Planning and Trust Law. He is the past president and past trustee of the Silicon Valley Bar Association, a past commissioner of the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization, Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Advisory Commission, and the author of the “Litigation Tools” chapter of the two-volume California Trust & Probate Litigation series (CEB 2005).
  • John Prokey is a partner of Ramsbacher Prokey Leonard LLP. Mr. Prokey’s law practice focuses on providing advice in wealth planning, estate and trust administration, and tax. His clients include individuals, private fiduciaries, institutions, and other business and non-profit entities. The wealth planning portion of Mr. Prokey’s law practice emphasizes advising individuals and fiduciaries in estate planning, wealth preservation, tax and business matters. Mr. Prokey also advises fiduciaries and beneficiaries in trust and probate administration matters, with emphasis in complex administrations. Mr. Prokey’s law practice includes representing taxpayers in all levels of federal tax controversy, including IRS examination and Appeals, and before the U.S. Tax Court, Clients, their families, and other practitioners rely on Mr. Prokey for dispute resolution in these arenas, including serving as a mediator.
  • Robert E. Temmerman, Jr. is a founding partner in the trust and estate law firm of Temmerman, Cilley & Kohlmann, LLP, with offices in San Jose and Danville, California. He specializes in estate planning, decedent estate administration and estate and trust litigation. He is certified as a specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estates Counsel. He frequently is asked to serve as an expert witness in trust and estate matters.
